Staff and students are encouraged to let library staff know of any movies or music that they would like to see the library buy for the collection.

The buying of these kinds of resources generally only happens every year or so, but we always have a running list, so be patient and we will get to your suggestion.
CDs for LIDCOMBE COLLEGE LIBRARY
Over 60 new cd's are available for loan to staff and students of the Lidcombe and Chullora campuses.
All CD covers are on display for browsing, or you can browse a printed list of all CD's available for loan.

CISCO NetRiders 2011 Contest
A team of Telecommunications students from TAFE NSW – Lidcombe College have come out on top in the CISCO NetRiders2011 contest; a competition organised by Cisco Networking Academy.
The Lidcombe Team are now invited to represent Australia in the Asia Pacific (APAC) championship of Cisco Systems' NetRiders competition during the last week of October 2011.
CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK to Jiri George Vasek, Mitchell Hokin and Andrew Heffernan, and to Lidcombe staff involved.

Congratulations to Ben Cooper, who has been awarded the runner- up to Apprentice of the Year.
Ben will soon be off to London to represent Australia as part of the 2011 Team Australia Skillaroos in the 41st WorldSkills International Competition,from 5-8 October. GOOD LUCK BEN!

DVD's for the Lidcombe College Library
In 2011, the library acquired brand new copies of films and TV shows on DVD. These are displayed on the library DVD display stand until they are borrowed.
Let us know if you have any suggestions for future purchases.

We have the first three films available to borrow on DVD!
Are you interested in Australian crime fact/ fiction?
We now have a copy of the acclaimed Australian film, "Animal Kingdom", based on the the true story of a notorious crime family.
To access a list of DVD's available at the library, come in and have a look at our printed list, or access the list online via the TAFE catalogue.

From the TAFE student portal, you can:
1) Do a TAFEcat search: Quick keyword searching of the TAFE library catalogue, with the option of limiting to particular libraries.
2) Renew library items: Students can use their library barcode and PIN, to log into their account in TAFEcat, which then gives them the options to renew items they have borrowed and to see what they currently have on loan.
3) TAFE NSW Library eResources: This link will take you to the eResources page in TAFEcat.
4) My Library website: This link will take you to your Institute’s library website.

Refugee Week 2011 at Lidcombe College Library
THANKYOU TO ALL FOR MAKING THIS EVENT SUCH A SUCCESS!
Refugee Week celebrations were held on the 16th June at the Lidcombe College Library with great success. A large turnout of the college community gathered to listen, talk, mingle and eat together in celebration of the courage and achievements of refugees in Australia.

Morning tea at Chullora campus with Tina and Geoff Gaymer, A/ College Manager.
The Lidcombe and Chullora campus libraries celebrated Library and Information Week 2011 with morning tea and "meet the staff". The Chullora morning tea was held on Wednesday 25th May and the Lidcombe morning tea was held on Thursday 26th May.
Although these were one- off events for this week, please feel free to come into our library locations at any time and have a chat to our helpful staff!
